Asfendiou village located in the east central part of the island, 14 km from the city of Kos. In a panoramic position on the slopes of Mount Dikeon facing the sea, the village is surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean vegetation and abundant springs. Asfendiou is a traditional inland village, famous for its handcrafted works of its inhabitants. Worth visiting are the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the two early Christian basilicas of St. John and Kapama. Asfendiou also includes the settlements of Agios Dimitrios, Asomati, Zia and Lagoudi.
